Basic Hygiene and Lifeskills Classroom on Wheels
Our Basic Hygiene and Lifeskills COWs come equipped with hygiene and health teaching aids and resources, which has helped us secure an impact grant from The Pollination Project in the United States.
Based on the same mobile concept as our award-winning African ECD Classroom on Wheels, we worked with social workers, health practitioners, and the South African Police Services to develop a novel way of teaching basic hygiene and life skills to children in informal settlements who are left largely unattended on a daily basis.
In addition to educating children about oral hygiene, nail hygiene, hand and foot hygiene, toilet hygiene, and so much more, our Basic Hygiene and Lifeskills Classroom on Wheels is also utilised to teach children about the do’s and don’ts related to combatting Covid-19. Puppets/dolls built into the unit are used to demonstrate symptoms (sneezing, coughing, fever) and requirements such as social distancing.
